90% of the Mexican population has tooth decay and oral problems, the time not to treat any of these problems can have serious consequences to health.

The oral cavity is one of the most polluted that has the body and if he adds a hygiene failures, then it generates an increase in bacterial flora and, therefore, whenever a food is ingested bacteria are inoculated to the body which can produce, in addition to caries, other diseases such as respiratory, gastrointestinal, cardiac and valvular disease causing even the death of the patient.

Also, the specialist commented that one of the diseases caused by lack of oral hygiene is the endocarditis, an infection caused by cardiovascular undrained abscesses or eliminated by germ invades the valvular endocardium (lining of the heart chambers), as a result of sepsis (severe infection and potentially fatal).

“Bacteria in the mouth convert all foods into acids, which when combined with food waste form what is known as plaque, that failure occurs eventually eliminated because of tooth decay, infections and diseases such as gingivitis (inflammation and bleeding gums) and periodontitis (disease of the supporting teeth).

Since about 50 years ago showed that the decay could be controlled with the use of fluoride, many preparations have appeared that contain it. Some are for professional use and some not.

Fluoride has three very beneficial effects on teeth:

- Increases the resistance of enamel: Applying fluoride on the teeth, it reacts with calcium in them, forming calcium fluoride. In this way, the fluorine reacts with the crystals of tooth enamel (hydroxyapatite), resulting in a compound that greatly increases the resistance of enamel.

- It helps remineralisation: Fluoride contributes to the remineralization of the tooth, by encouraging entry into the structure of calcium and phosphate ions. This is because the fluoride has negative charge and attracts the calcium and phosphate whose charge is positive.

- Has antibacterial action: Fluoride has antibacterial action attacking the bacteria that colonize the tooth surface.
