Vegetarian diets

Both vegetarian diets as non-vegetarians can be potentially harmful or beneficial to health … this is according to how they are planned and used.

* The vegan diet excludes foods that are completely animal origin (meat, eggs, dairy)
* Diets Lacto-ovo-vegetarian meat only eliminate
* Semi-vegetarian diets include some limited quantities of food of animal origin.

Strict vegetarian diets:

Pay special attention to proteins, and especially the quality of the proteins. Protein is made up of amino acids, and the diet should contain the amount of necessary amino acids required by the body.
For that to happen you need to eat varied, combining several types of vegetables, so you can meet this need.
For example, maize contains a good amount of amino acids … but the proteins of peas only two … so it is a good idea to supplement with corn peas.
In general in vegetarian diets should include vitamin B12 (mostly is found in meat) that is found in fortified soy milk or vitamin supplements directly. Read the rest of this entry »
